As a senior in high school juggling college applications and schoolwork, it was crucial to obtain an SAT score in the ranges of my sought-after colleges. My initial scores without tutoring were insufficient for the schools I wanted to attend. After beginning tutoring sessions with Deborah, my score increased by 150 points after only three weeks in the summer before my senior year. Then, after tailoring my tutoring sessions to my more lacking areas of the SAT, Deborah helped me raise my score by a total of 210 points by the time my college applications were due. Deborah constructed a specific math test compiled of the types of questions I tended to miss on the SAT and my practice tests. She also gave me books to read that were written similarly to the passages on the SAT that I struggled with the most, all while also giving me helpful tips for preparation for the big test day. I am very grateful for Deborah and her guidance and am proud to say as an incoming freshman in college, I was admitted into many of the schools that were unattainable for me before. Overall, the strongest recommendation!!!
I got put in touch with Deborah the night before having to make a decision on whether to drop my Statistics course or not. I had just failed the second exam in the class, and needed to protect my scholarship requiring me to maintain a 3.0 average. I was having a lot of anxiety about continuing with the course, but Deborah calmed me down and I decided to stick with it. Although my homework grades were all good, I did even worse on the 3rd exam! I needed to pull out something amazing on the final. We worked extremely hard and I was determined to pass the class. Any questions I had during our sessions, she was able to answer. Questions I had outside of our sessions, I would email her and get a response in the next few hours. With Deborah's help and a lot of hard work, I did great on the final and got a B in the class! So happy I didn't drop it, and I'd recommend her help to anyone else struggling with Stats.
I have attempted, over the years, to be the auxiliary educator to my two sons. I have found that, not only have my children failed to understand a word I’m saying during study time, I engendered a hostile environment because I have wanted to pull my hair out trying to get points across to them. Yet, along comes Deborah, tutoring my youngest son, and she has been capable of not only teaching him the material but fostering a positive experience. The funny thing is, when I get home, I say “hey” to my wife, my son, and I now do the same to the nice lady on the other end of the computer. She has become a quasi-family member that knows our dogs, cats, pig and the craziness that occurs in our home after 5 pm. We are blessed to have found her and her influence on our son’s future, in my estimation, will be immeasurable.
Deborah is an absolute treasure - she has worked with my high school daughter for about a year and is now helping my son in college. Her dedication to the kids and pure joy in their successes is beyond the scope of a typical tutor! She is passionate about helping them succeed in terms of mastering their content, providing notes on their sessions and work problems, and general test taking strategies. She communicates any concerns or trends to me and is open to conversations. Bottom line, Deb goes above and beyond as a tutor and a cheerleader!
Mrs. Kay was absolutely the reason I got an A in organic. She knows the nuances of organic to such a detailed level that she can take what looks like a foreign language and make it simple. She has a diverse teaching style and really knows how to apply her arsenal of methods to what suits you best. Her greatest attribute is how personable she is and that she genuinely wants the best for you. She’ll work you into her schedule and not a minute is wasted. What separates her from the rest is that she doesn’t need to tutor- she does it because it’s her passion and you’ll see that in your results.
I was really struggling with orgo and was about to give up when I started meeting with Kay. I thought it would be impossible to catch up so late, but I ended up learning more from her in just two weeks than an entire semester at my university. She is very knowledgable and kind, and really excelled at making difficult concepts easy to understand. I will definitely be scheduling more sessions with her in the future!!
Ms. Kay is the tutor to go to!! After miscommunication with scheduling, she was able to fit me in on a short notice. We reviewed many concepts regarding stereochemistry and mechanisms. I am one to not understand chemistry at all, but she truly makes me feel confident in the material and for my test tomorrow. I have dealt with many tutors and my own professors, however, Ms. Kay is the only one who has been able to break the concepts down and step by step and draw out the mechanisms so I can visually see. Will definitely be working with her again!!!
Ms. Kay is absolutely exceptional. She has taught me more Organic Chemistry in one hour than I have learned in one semester. She is amazing!!
Kay is a fantastic tutor for my calculus and organic chemistry classes! It is the best of both worlds! Kay is a great teacher and is always prepared for whatever concept I throw her way. I enjoy working with Kay because I genuinely learn something every time. I never leave a session not understanding a concept. I would recommend Kay to any student looking for additional help!
Kay was very patient and straight to the point. She knows college physics and exactly how to explain it! I really enjoyed my lesson with her and look forward to future lessons.
Kay was so patient and accommodating to my particular needs. Not only did Kay create a specific plan for me and follow it, but she also made sure to keep it a pace that was perfect for me and highlighted ways of understanding that resonated more with me than others. I also appreciate that she worked with me to send me homework and practice exams that were applicable to me. Being able to practice certain pieces of quant outside of our sessions was very helpful. She is also very easy to contact and hear a response from, which I appreciate for many reasons. Kay helped me to study for the quant portion of the GRE (Which I will be taking tomorrow), and I can definitely go into it knowing that I am much more prepared than I was before finding her. If you have had troubles in the past with finding a tutor/program that works for you, I highly recommend to look into Kay. I had previously used a GRE studying program that ended up being a waste of time and money for me as it moved to quick and the lessons were too close together for me to hold onto any information learned. Although I don’t have any scores to show yet, I can at least know that I am walking into the GRE more confident than I did previously (did not get a great score the first time I took it). This alone is a huge accomplishment for me as I am usually extremely anxious about important exams such as this. On a sidenote, I had a few things happen during my time with Kay as a tutor that needed immediate attention and I had to switch our meeting days/times around quite quickly. Kay was extremely understanding and catering to these instances. So, if you have a difficult schedule to work with, I’m sure you will be able to find a way to work out tutoring times with Kay!
Kay is patient, encouraging and makes difficult concepts easier to understand. I could not have prepared for the GRE without her. I know my score will improve as a result of what I've learned from her.
Before I started tutoring with Kay, I was struggling with the quantitative section on the GRE. She took the quantitative section and broke it down into smaller concepts that I could work on such as word problems, geometry, probability, ratios, mixtures, etc. This really help me figure out which parts I needed the most help. Kay is very knowledgeable about the GRE and very patient when you don’t understand something. I would definitely recommend her to you if you are studying for the GRE and are needing more help. I am taking the GRE in two days and I can honestly say I am way more confident able tackling the quantitative portion this time rather than the last time I took it all thanks to Kay’s help!
This is more than a recommendation, this is a tribute to how amazing Ms. Deborah is. Ms. Deborah helped me overcome challenges beyond college algebra. She gave me lessons on stocks, elements, essays and a ear to vent to. She is beyond a tutor. She is the most kind, understanding and humble person you will ever meet. I continue to be amazed of her achievements that she never brags about. Her taste in cars is just as good as her ability to solve math problems - amazing! I sadly don’t have math this coming semester, but the next semester is calculus. I never believed that I would say that I look forward to studying calculus. I guess the reason is because of Ms. Deborah’s awesomeness. Thank you again Mrs. Deborah! if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have made an A in college algebra, nor would I have an A for that final paper. Thank you again and I’ll see you soon! -Ryne Melzer
Kay helped me understand how to better manage my time on the second and hard quantitative section of the GRE. I was doing well in the medium difficulty section, and then when the second section was scaled to the hard section, I found myself running out of time. Though I am taking the GRE in two days, I already feel that I got so much out of the one hour of tutoring I had with Kay. I only wish I contacted her earlier in the week!
I used Deborah for her Effective Studying tutoring. After covid, I struggled with staying focused and reviewing my course material and that really concerned me going into college. She spent weeks with me giving me tips and different methods to try. She even helped me research my college courses and find material that I would be using in the future. She’s so extremely positive. She had me read things that helped boost my confidence and she always spoke of how she knew that I would do well. Not only did she help prep me for school and help get me back into a routine for academics but she also gave me some life lessons. She spoke of other things that would help me in the social world of college, what to expect, and how to react to them. She really helped make me feel better and prepare for the huge transition I was about to make both academically and mentally. She’s a wonderful tutor! I’m so glad I was able to work with her and I definitely feel as if it made a great, positive impact.
Deborah is a fantastic tutor! She is so positive and motivating. She builds confidence in her students and really makes them think they can exceed their goals. Not only does she teach the material in a way that is easy to understand, but she also has test strategies that are effective in helping to get to the correct answer. I would highly recommend her!
Deborah tutored my daughter in preparation for the SAT. The first thing that stood out to me was, she understood the battle behind just scores. She took time to interview my daughter and got to know her. She identified what I already knew: my smart daughter that was not scoring as well as she should, lacked confidence in herself. She also made my daughter feel relaxed. She starts with a little chit-chat, but quickly dives into each lesson and uses each session efficiently. She takes the SAT soon, so we won’t know the “true results” for a bit longer, but my daughter speaks confidently and says “I am ready."
When I first decided I needed a tutor for Algebra, I heard Deborah was the best person to go to for help, I was failing Algebra at the time, and I had given up because I thought I couldn’t pass the class. But with Deborah's patience, care and assistance, I not only passed the class, I got an 82 on the final! Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for me, and taken the time to do it.
Ms. Deborah tutored my granddaughter in Algebra II to the successful completion of that subject. Ms. Deborah showed genuine interest and concern for my granddaughter's dilemma and helped her through it. I wish we could have found this tutoring service earlier in the school year. Covid-19 took it's toll on the learning experience in schools and the ability to get assistance. We are thankful we found Monarch Tutoring Services.
Kay taught me everything I was wondering or questioning/inquiring about with my pre-calc studies, from the trig topics, from the unit circle to the identities or anything in between. If there was something I was unsure about or uninformed on she would help to fill the gaps and provided great knowledge and she is an ease to work with, a wonderful and nice lady. She is super kind and easy going and made my journey through my online pre-calc class infinitely easier! She's great.
Kay really helped my son work through some parts of chemistry he has been struggling with. She was very patient and he really seemed to respond well to her. He said he feels more confident with the equations they are working on right now.
Mrs. Kay was an excellent tutor. She is very skilled in teaching math which is probably my worst subject but with her help I was able to excel in it. She even taught me some mechanical comprehension for the ASVAB and let me borrow her ASVAB book for an entire week! Couldn't recommend her enough! If you have trouble with math or rather any subject, you should definitely get her as your tutor!
She helped with the sounding of verbs and nouns to make a clear understanding of what was being said and most importantly how it was to be said. Her patience with my son is outstanding.
I noticed she encourages her students to think and that leads to a better understanding of the lesson and improves my daughter's problem-solving skills.
She showed me a different way to solve the problems. It was a short lesson but helpful. I ended up scoring a 91 on my midterm but i used several sources to achieve this.
Kay is patient, encouraging and makes difficult concepts easier to understand. I could not have prepared for the GRE without her. I know my score will improve as a result of what I've learned from her.
She taught me about how to do functions and graphs. She was very patient as well understanding when I explained to her how long it had been since seeing/doing this type of work. I would recommend her to anyone. She truly has a heart for a student who is struggling.
Kay is the best! After a couple misses we found a knowledgable, kind, and motivating tutor in Kay for our daughter. And you really need all three attributes. Also she familiarized herself with the state standards particular to our situation. Thank you Kay for saving the day!
My son struggles in math and he came home very happy after his first tutoring session with Kay and felt very positive about having a tutor and improving in math.
Kay is one of the nicest and most helpful tutors I've ever had. Making you do problems you aren't comfortable with and poking you for questions. She helped me excel in Trigonometry, a class I never thought I would be able to pass. If you can get Kay as a tutor, you're very lucky as she cares wholeheartedly.
Kay teaches in a way that is very easy to understand and is extremely helpful! She makes learning something that is very difficult fun to learn with helpful tips and tricks. After only one session, my daughter said her confidence in geometry has gone up significantly! We are so grateful to have found her!
Knowledgeable and patient tutor.
Kay was great with my daughter . It was her first lesson and once i told Kay what our goals were she was able to immediately suggest a couple of teaching strategies to help attain those goals. My daughter loved working with her
Ms. Kay helps me to prepare for quizzes and tests by going over practice problems with me. She is patient when I try to figure out the answer and is there for guidance and support. I definitely feel better prepared for class after tutoring with Ms. Kay than before tutoring with her.
Kay reviewed Chemistry with my daughter and was very helpful. My daughter has a test this coming friday, and now my daughter is very confident in her skills. Kay broke things down into ways my daughter could understand very easily.
Knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging. The student has succeeded and gained more and more knowledge of what he needs to do to succeed on his own. Wonderful tutor!
My daughter is very satisfied with the tutoring lessons she has received from Mrs. Kay. She is now comfortable in her class and making progress.
I am beyond happy with my tutoring lessons with Kay H. She is very patient and really makes an effort to make sure I understand the material. I feel much more confident with Chemistry now than I have before. You will not go wrong with her, she is the best in the business. Thank you for all your help!!
Kay was very professional and informative. My daughter enjoyed her first session with Kay and is looking forward to working with her on a permanent basis! She deserves a five star rating!
Kay is very professional and an excellent tutor. My high school son struggles with math skills and Kay helped him to pass his Algebra 1 Class as well as the Algebra 1 EOC exam that is a graduation requirement. My husband and I are very pleased at the progress our son has made with Kay. She is always prepared and very willing to work around our schedule. I highly recommend her as a math tutor for anyone!!!
She provided tutor to my daughter and it was last minute, during the last few weeks of school. Kay worked with my daughter and prepared her for finals. Wish we would have found Kay earlier in the year.
Kay was exactly what we were looking for. Our son needed to boost his ACT scores by 2 points to get to South Carolina scholarship levels. She knew just how to approach studying for the test and just how to get him motivated to obtain exactly the scores he needed. We were very pleased and have recommended her to many of our friends.
I had the pleasure of having Kay tutor me. I am an over 45 year old lady that is going back to school and was so in shock by College Algebra. Kay helped me and walked me through the steps and made me feel proud to work problems out in class with the students that were much younger. This was a opportunity from heaven.
Kay is a great tutor! She is patient and very helpful in breaking things down into easier ways to remember. I would recommend her to everyone!
She is always on time and accommodating. I was somewhat skeptical about finding a tutor "on line". Without a doubt she has made a positive impact on my son's math skills. I would highly recommend Kay to anyone that requires her skill set. She has been a great "find" for us.
My daughter felt very comfortable working with Kay. She was patient and kind while she worked through the exercises. My daughter doesn't normally relax with people when she first meets them but with Kay, it seems like a good fit. I look forward to seeing my daughter's grades improve as she continues working with Kay's support. Kay and I are working on a plan to help my daughter improve her grades. She is not just focused on homework of the day. She is helping with some of the basic foundational areas as well.
