Hi, I'm Deborah! I have 3 degrees (Bachelors from Northwestern, Masters from George Washington and an MBA from Notre Dame) and know they have helped me in my career. The first step is getting a high college entrance exam test score to help you get into the university that will make your resume stand out among a diverse pool of job candidates. I've consistently scored above the 98% percentile in standardized exams, and I can help you achieve your goals, too!
I'm able to help you prepare for the ACT, SAT and GRE exams. I can also help with Math, particularly Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry. I have always excelled in math, taking my high school's Mathletes team to first place in our state tournaments all four years. But I also appreciate language arts, and have been complemented by college professors and corporate bosses alike for my ability to articulate thoughts with words particularly well.
I have also tutored students preparing for GED exams, and passing the US Citizenship tests as well.
And more recently I have also assisted parents struggling with "Common Core" and other grade school subjects as eLearning has become a norm in many parts of the country. #WeAreInThisTogether!
I love learning and truly enjoy helping others to understand new concepts. If you would like a past student's reference, please contact me and I will be happy to provide one. Contact me today to get yourself or your student on the road to success!

Write TestimonialI used Deborah for her Effective Studying tutoring. After covid, I struggled with staying focused and reviewing my course material and that really concerned me going into college. She spent weeks with me giving me tips and different methods to try. She even helped me research my college courses and find material that I would be using in the future. She’s so extremely positive. She had me read things that helped boost my confidence and she always spoke of how she knew that I would do well. Not only did she help prep me for school and help get me back into a routine for academics but she also gave me some life lessons. She spoke of other things that would help me in the social world of college, what to expect, and how to react to them. She really helped make me feel better and prepare for the huge transition I was about to make both academically and mentally. She’s a wonderful tutor! I’m so glad I was able to work with her and I definitely feel as if it made a great, positive impact.
Deborah is a fantastic tutor! She is so positive and motivating. She builds confidence in her students and really makes them think they can exceed their goals. Not only does she teach the material in a way that is easy to understand, but she also has test strategies that are effective in helping to get to the correct answer. I would highly recommend her!
Deborah tutored my daughter in preparation for the SAT. The first thing that stood out to me was, she understood the battle behind just scores. She took time to interview my daughter and got to know her. She identified what I already knew: my smart daughter that was not scoring as well as she should, lacked confidence in herself. She also made my daughter feel relaxed. She starts with a little chit-chat, but quickly dives into each lesson and uses each session efficiently. She takes the SAT soon, so we won’t know the “true results” for a bit longer, but my daughter speaks confidently and says “I am ready."
When I first decided I needed a tutor for Algebra, I heard Deborah was the best person to go to for help, I was failing Algebra at the time, and I had given up because I thought I couldn’t pass the class. But with Deborah's patience, care and assistance, I not only passed the class, I got an 82 on the final! Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for me, and taken the time to do it.
Ms. Deborah tutored my granddaughter in Algebra II to the successful completion of that subject. Ms. Deborah showed genuine interest and concern for my granddaughter's dilemma and helped her through it. I wish we could have found this tutoring service earlier in the school year. Covid-19 took it's toll on the learning experience in schools and the ability to get assistance. We are thankful we found Monarch Tutoring Services.
This is more than a recommendation, this is a tribute to how amazing Ms. Deborah is. Ms. Deborah helped me overcome challenges beyond college algebra. She gave me lessons on stocks, elements, essays and a ear to vent to. She is beyond a tutor. She is the most kind, understanding and humble person you will ever meet. I continue to be amazed of her achievements that she never brags about. Her taste in cars is just as good as her ability to solve math problems - amazing! I sadly don’t have math this coming semester, but the next semester is calculus. I never believed that I would say that I look forward to studying calculus. I guess the reason is because of Ms. Deborah’s awesomeness. Thank you again Mrs. Deborah! if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have made an A in college algebra, nor would I have an A for that final paper. Thank you again and I’ll see you soon! -Ryne Melzer
As a senior in high school juggling college applications and schoolwork, it was crucial to obtain an SAT score in the ranges of my sought-after colleges. My initial scores without tutoring were insufficient for the schools I wanted to attend. After beginning tutoring sessions with Deborah, my score increased by 150 points after only three weeks in the summer before my senior year. Then, after tailoring my tutoring sessions to my more lacking areas of the SAT, Deborah helped me raise my score by a total of 210 points by the time my college applications were due. Deborah constructed a specific math test compiled of the types of questions I tended to miss on the SAT and my practice tests. She also gave me books to read that were written similarly to the passages on the SAT that I struggled with the most, all while also giving me helpful tips for preparation for the big test day. I am very grateful for Deborah and her guidance and am proud to say as an incoming freshman in college, I was admitted into many of the schools that were unattainable for me before. Overall, the strongest recommendation!!!
I got put in touch with Deborah the night before having to make a decision on whether to drop my Statistics course or not. I had just failed the second exam in the class, and needed to protect my scholarship requiring me to maintain a 3.0 average. I was having a lot of anxiety about continuing with the course, but Deborah calmed me down and I decided to stick with it. Although my homework grades were all good, I did even worse on the 3rd exam! I needed to pull out something amazing on the final. We worked extremely hard and I was determined to pass the class. Any questions I had during our sessions, she was able to answer. Questions I had outside of our sessions, I would email her and get a response in the next few hours. With Deborah's help and a lot of hard work, I did great on the final and got a B in the class! So happy I didn't drop it, and I'd recommend her help to anyone else struggling with Stats.
I have attempted, over the years, to be the auxiliary educator to my two sons. I have found that, not only have my children failed to understand a word I’m saying during study time, I engendered a hostile environment because I have wanted to pull my hair out trying to get points across to them. Yet, along comes Deborah, tutoring my youngest son, and she has been capable of not only teaching him the material but fostering a positive experience. The funny thing is, when I get home, I say “hey” to my wife, my son, and I now do the same to the nice lady on the other end of the computer. She has become a quasi-family member that knows our dogs, cats, pig and the craziness that occurs in our home after 5 pm. We are blessed to have found her and her influence on our son’s future, in my estimation, will be immeasurable.
Deborah is an absolute treasure - she has worked with my high school daughter for about a year and is now helping my son in college. Her dedication to the kids and pure joy in their successes is beyond the scope of a typical tutor! She is passionate about helping them succeed in terms of mastering their content, providing notes on their sessions and work problems, and general test taking strategies. She communicates any concerns or trends to me and is open to conversations. Bottom line, Deb goes above and beyond as a tutor and a cheerleader!
